Lenovo G770 10372KU 17.3-Inch Laptop (Dark Brown) So to start out and about, after years of the actual desktop scene, i decided to give laptops a try. Naturally I heard many good stuff about Lenovo laptops, but i didn’ t really like his or her average 15. 3" inch screen sizes. I got hooked on the more larger 17. 3" inch screen sizes, so I thought this G770 will be my very first dive in to the laptop world, & went ahead & purchased it.
The 750gb 5400rpm drive handles the duty very well, but for more high-definition intensive tasks, i went ahead & replace it with a new 7200rpm one. It didn’ t suck up anymore battery power than the actual 5400rpm, at least i didn’ t notice a huge drop in battery life. I also went ahead & replace the 6gb ram memory with 8gb of ram memory, the extra memory is a nice satisfaction & provides a decent " buffer zone" for any multitasking you will do, which i do alot of. Multitasking is impressive on the i5 2410 2. 3ghz proc, this proc & the way its positioned makes it hard to upgrade for an 2830QM proc later on, but the power the idea draws is minimal & does everything with convenience, so not much of an complaint here. If you haven’ t noticed already, i like to tinker & upgrade components from stock, so if the initial stock parts aren’ t good enough to suit your needs i figure i could do this myself, & yes i do recognize the warranty might also been voided or so), then i suggest you upgrade. However the stock components ought to do fine for most parents needs.
The fan does run loud & hot if there is intensive multitasking happening, so i suggest a laptop cooler correctly. The noise it generate isn’ t that bothersome, as my room is reasonably quiet, you might not actually notice its running. Lenovo has a whitelist of acceptable wifi cards you possibly can install, I found this out and about the hard way when trying to replace the Atheros-brand wifi card through an Intel one, it wouldn’ t boot past the actual warning screen saying " an unauthorized wifi network card continues to be detected, please remove & reboot", so keep that as the primary goal. Graphics-wise, the ATI radeon graphics is incredibly impressive, i can play crysis only two with above average configurations not maxed out), & Deux Ex plays such as a champ. Having switchable graphics will be nice, as you can set which programs or apps to perform on which graphics – the onboard intel or perhaps the ATI graphics.
The screen viewing perspective is narrow, & glare can’ t be avoided when employed in bright places, so expect that. I ordered a distinct matte screen cover, & it reduces the glare quite well, you might want to contemplate that option. Brightness settings are a nice plus, easy to increase/decrease perfection & volume too. The speakers works very well, loud, & no signs of fantastic noises. One slight annoying con could be the keyboard aren’ t backlit, so in dark settings often yourself stumbling on selected keys, type in a effectively lit environment!
I get about 3 hours or so when running on battery pack, but its really influenced by if you’ re multitasking or just running single program. Oh & I also replace the actual bd-rom & got a blu-ray writer, for more storage on blu-ray media also. USB ports can feel a little loose, but overall it characteristics accordingly. Boot optimizer will change lives in the boot occasion, so i suggest giving that a try after you install some programs that runs inside background antivirus, anti-spywares, etc). I hope to keep this laptop for a long period, with the upgrades i bought for it.
